Regarding Coronavirus Concerns

The Cru New Staff Orientation (NSO) Leadership Team has decided to move forward with plans for the NSO Fall 2020 set for September 2020 in Daytona Beach, Florida. We continue to pray for the Lord’s guidance and protection, especially during these uncertain times.

However, we are monitoring the COVID-19 situation and things may change based on recommendations by Cru Leadership and the U.S. Government. If plans for NSO change, we will contact those involved.

Facebook Group
The “NSO Fall 2020” Facebook Group is an essential tool for connecting with other New Staff members (e.g. sharing rides to/from the airport, etc.). It will also be the main way the NSO conference team shares announcements.

This Facebook Group is a “Secret Group” to maximize privacy, so you must be invited to join. Please write to from the e-mail address associated with your Facebook Account. (Please use your address for all ministry correspondence; however, in this case, we need to invite you within the Facebook platform.)

If you are also attending the Transitions Conference, be sure to read the Transitions Conference page and register accordingly.

Employment and Payroll Documents
You will be receiving an email from someone on our Personnel Records Team. They will give you information on anything you might need to bring related to your hiring as an employee of Cru or for your transition from your current status with Cru to supported, full-time staff.

If both husband and wife are joining staff with Cru, it is important and strategic for both to attend and participate in all the sessions. There are no exceptions to this. The orientation is designed to make it easier to arrange schedules to attend New Staff Orientation.

Be aware that after the MPD training starts Tuesday, it will be an intense week with a lot of information to cover, creating long days with very few breaks and very little free time.

Cru values families and wants your family experience at NSO to be a blessing.

Note to parents who are both supported staff members:
Because husbands and wives need to be working together as a team, the conference is designed for both. Both parents are expected to attend and participate. Also, the demands of working on Ministry Partner Development as parents can have unique challenges. We hope that the time away, without your children, will be especially refreshing for you. To help you get the most out of this time, please plan on arranging care for your children with friends or relatives. We of course will accommodate any nursing babies.

Begin planning now to make arrangements for your children while you are away at the conference. If needed, you are welcome to bring a friend or family member to the conference to watch your child(ren) for any or all of the time. Families who have done so in the past have shared that they have had a much better experience.

New Staff Orientation can be a very time-intensive process. Be sure to give yourself grace, and know that we are here to serve you. If you would like to discuss the needs of your family or have any questions or concerns, please contact your Applicant Liaison.

Worship for NSO
We are in need of one or two individuals to lead worship during NSO. It is a minimal commitment. You will have an opportunity to indicate your interest when registering online. We ask that all musicians bring their instruments. If this causes additional travel costs, please email to discuss options. You will receive additional information by email after registering online.

We are always in need of people who are willing to help with NSO Audio/Visual (A/V). We are looking for those who are willing to help with technical aspects during meetings, such as ProPresenter, PowerPoint, sound board, A/V, etc.) – in essence, babysitting the equipment during the meetings. Experience is helpful, but training will be available. You will have an opportunity to indicate your interest when registering online.
